Types of Thieves

There are two types of thieves in the world – opportunistic and calculated. Opportunistic thieves will steal anything they can get their hands on, without the planning and insights that calculated thieves have. Calculated thieves do their research before stealing a vehicle and look for theft detection tools in vehicles, including trackers. Our solution covers both scenarios, providing you with an added layer of protection against theft.

Our Methodology

Our methodology is centered on delivering a discreet and highly effective solution that assists in locating stolen vehicles and assets. To achieve this, we have intentionally excluded features such as Panic Buttons, Start Inhibit, Early Warning, and Sirens. We have learned from our experience that these features can make a thief aware of the tracking system installed in the vehicle, leading them to disable it, which can make it impossible to locate your stolen vehicle or asset. We believe that when it comes to vehicle and asset theft, being fancy does not help, simple solutions work best.

We understand that you may have different opinions on what features a theft detection service should provide, but our commitment to our customers is unwavering. We believe that compromising our tried and tested approach could potentially jeopardize the recovery of your stolen vehicle or asset.

Our Hardware

We offer dual installation of both an active GPS tracker that is hardwired to the vehicle’s battery and an additional passive (self-powered) tracker. The active GPS tracker provides live location data which is transmitted to our servers, assisting you with providing the location of your vehicle or asset when stolen. The passive tracker does not require an external power source and can be installed anywhere in the vehicle. This provides more flexibility in terms of hiding the tracker. The passive tracker is specifically designed to only send out two position signals a day to ensure that there is an extended battery life of the hardware, which can assist in the recovery of the vehicle if the vehicle battery gets disconnected or if the perpetrator locates and removes the active tracker

If you do not want any hardwired hardware installed in your vehicle or you are looking at tracking non-powered assets like trailers, we understand and offer an alternative solution.

We can provide two passive trackers, which do not require a hardwired installation and can be installed anywhere in the vehicle or asset

The passive trackers will still transmit two location updates per day, providing a level of protection in case of theft. However, it is important to note that the passive trackers do not offer real-time location data like the active GPS tracker or functionality of the Carwatch App. If you choose to go with the passive trackers, please be aware that recovery may be delayed due to the limited location updates per day

How it Works

The stolen vehicle & asset location service is available on a mobile app called Carwatch. The Carwatch App is designed to work hand in hand with Cartrack’s tracking devices that are installed in your vehicle. Once you activate Carwatch by turning its status to active, you will be notified immediately via a phone call the moment your vehicle’s ignition is switched on or there’s any movement of your vehicle or asset. With just a touch of a button, you can activate or deactivate alerts for your monitored vehicle or asset.

In the case of theft, Carrack’s active GPS tracker will provide you with live locations of your vehicle or asset, giving you real-time updates on its whereabouts. On the other hand, the passive tracker will transmit two signals a day, which will give you the last known location of your vehicle.

Regarding installations, it is our absolute preference to install the hardware ourselves, but in some cases, we might not be able to install it at your location as the cost benefit might not stack up. We will then provide an installation guide and only charge $150 for the hardware for self-installation.
